Atocha Train Station (Estación de Atocha)
The ultimate project for Atocha Train Station was finished by architect Alberto de Palacio Elissague (1856-1939), famous at that time for being the architect of the suspenssion bridge of Portugalete (in the Basque Country). Palacio was in charge of the design and decoration and the French engineer Henri de Saint-James designed the cover with a height of 48,76 ms. and 152 ms. long.
Atocha is one of the key points of Madrid transportation system. It has a Metro station and it´s also the train station for the commutater rail system and the high speed train that goes to Seville and Toledo.
Its main attraction is the Tropical Garden.
